Chapter 20 : Asking For It

Asking for it is a novel by Louise O'Neill. It tells a story of Emma O'Donovan, who is eighteen years old, beautiful, happy, confident. One night, there's a party. Everyone is there. All eyes are on Emma.

The next morning, she wakes on the front porch of her house. She can't remember what happened, she doesn't know how she got there. She doesn't know why she's in pain. But everyone else does.

Photographs taken at the party show, in explicit detail, what happened to Emma that night. But sometimes people don't want to believe what is right in front of them, especially when the truth concerns the town's heroes.

I hate this book. It made my moods in rollercoaster.
I hate the main character. The main character is kind of annoying and narcisstic. She is also kind of selfish who just thinks the world revolves around her. I HATE IT. But I got to admit, I feel so sad for her. I hate all characters except Bryan.
I hate it. But I know what the writer wants to tell the readers about. It reflects the truth of our society.

It’s not a cheerful & rainbow book. No. It’s a heartbeaking book where it made you speechless and don’t even know how you feel after reading it. I do find this book is disturbing.

To be honest, I don't even know whether to recommend this book or not? Because I kind of hating this book. This book made me speechless and even keep thinking about it even in 3am.

I rated this for 3.5/5 ✩. It is not a bad book, but it is not a great book either.
